![]() ![]() So leaving the platform even though it offers rather unprecedented performance with great battery life and thermals because "Apple is always going to change up things and cut support" is just rather shortsighted and IMO more of a knee-jerk reaction. Understandably it's a lot of work since you cannot leave games untouched and expect them to work, but as we finally reached the end of this massive transition process from x86/OpenGL -> arm64/Metal I really don't think in the future developers have much to worry about on the platform. Along with the latest Mac M1 support, Larian Studios also released several fixes that further improve the game via Hotfix 18. ARM is an issue too, and while my previous experiences with OpenGL is that it is the culprit is most often that (Shadow of the Tomb Raider runs absolutely fine on x86/Metal) but at least Rosetta 2 is here to stay at least a few years, once again giving ample time for developers like PDS to prepare.Īs to how much of this is worth it for PDX I do not know. Baldur's Gate 3 on the M1 Macbook Air 2020MBA Specs: M1 8-Core CPU + 8-Core GPU w/ 8GB RAM & 512GB SSDModded with Thermal PadsFramerate shown by Quartz FPS C. Novem0 Larian Studios is pleased to announce today that Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally available for Mac users who have the latest M1 processor. Still, my biggest gripe with Vicky 3 is the fact that if it uses OpenGL not only I am not going to be sure if it will run on macOS 13, but of course performance is going to be terrible even on the 32 core M1 Max. Nevertheless I bought the EU4 Humble Bundle, and I do have a capable PC, but honestly I would rather play on the Mac (for various reasons). Be warned though, it only runs well on 16 GB M1 systems. It hardly ever drops a frame on 1080p Ultra settings. Nevertheless, performance is outstanding. It doesn’t support Steam integration (because Valve hasn’t made Steam ARM compatible). ![]() I am absolutely thrilled to finally hear something about Metal/MoltenVK, but at this point I am not confident that games are going to receive an update in time. If anyone has the Steam edition of Baldur’s Gate 3, it now has ARM binaries. ![]() As soon as you start (M1 1), head for the only accessible passage to the next room. and you are one of the survivors of the Mind Flayers attack on Baldurs Gate. This walkthrough will help you complete the prologue. I was (and still am) on a hiatus on buying new PDS games, not because of the bad performance necessarily, but rather for the fact that all games (and even new ones) only run through OpenGL, which has been deprecated for 4(!) years and at any release Apple can pull the plug, rendering them completely useless. This page of the Baldurs Gate 3 guide has a walkthrough for Escape the Nautiloid quest. There are not that many of us though (even though M1 machines are basically perfect for paradox games IMO). ![]()
